Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I

Ages 3-6, Wednesdays, 4:00pm-5:30pm

For our youngest disciples, we offer Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Level I for 3 year olds-Kindergarteners. CGS is an approach rooted in the Bible, the Liturgy of the Church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori.

Children gather in the ‘Atrium’, a room prepared just for them, which contains simple yet beautiful materials they will use to help them absorb the most essential proclamations of our faith and nurture a relationship with Jesus the Good Shepherd.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level II

1st-3rd Grade, Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:00pm

CGS Level II (1st-3rd grade) builds on the covenantal love between God and His children, but adds the element of the merciful, forgiving love of Jesus and calls for a response from the children. Older children receive meditations to enhance their preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation.

First Reconciliation & First Communion

2nd Grade Sacrament Preparation

In addition to spending time in the Level II CGS Atrium once a week (see above), children will work through the Renewed and Received lessons from Ascension Press with their parents at home.

Renewed and Received prepare children to encounter God’s love and mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Holy Communion by setting the sacraments in the context of salvation history—God’s love for us and his desire for us to know him and love him in return.

Youth Night

4th-6th Grade, Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:00pm

As we’ve prayed and discerned how best to lead our youth to an encounter with God, and to deepen their relationship with Him, we’ve decided to combine our 4th-6th grade classrooms. Rather than a classroom-style session, each Wednesday night will be based on three pillars, emphasizing relational ministry:

• Teaching content
• Games & activities
• Prayer time

Youth will have the opportunity to experience community, learn how to pray, and journey through the Church’s year of seasons and feast days together.

Year 1 Confirmation

7th Grade, Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:00pm

Year 1 youth begin their Confirmation preparation experiencing Alpha Youth together. Alpha Youth explores life, faith, and purpose and explores the core message of the faith in a relevant and engaging way. Youth then begin the Chosen series from Ascension Press.

Year 2 Confirmation

8th Grade, Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:00pm

Year 2 begins by completing the Chosen series, and finishes the year working through Theology of the Body (TOB), a great series of teachings from Pope St. John Paul II. TOB helps to ground youth in the reality that they’re created in God’s image and likeness and to have the truth of God’s love really become real for them.
